REMI MANKEs, MHC, M.a

Welcome! My name is Remi Mankes, Associate Psychotherapist of Kathryn Lee Therapy.

You are motivated and driven, yet recently, you’ve been experiencing anxiety and a sense of disconnection from yourself and your relationships. On the outside, it appears that you have everything under control. You perform well in your professional or academic endeavors, and people see you as diligent and dependable. However, internally, you feel on edge, unsure, and anticipating the future. You seek to understand and manage your anxious thoughts, cultivate a deeper sense of purpose, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Whether you're navigating life transitions, dealing with daily stressors, exploring your inner self, or managing family and romantic relationships, I'm here to support you on this journey.

Leaning into vulnerability can be challenging. I am committed to cultivating a safe and affirming space for you to share your story at a pace most comfortable to you. Through collaborative goal setting and personalized therapy, I aim to help you make meaningful changes, develop healthy coping strategies, and better understand yourself. Together, we can explore your present experiences and past influences, addressing the root causes of your struggles.

My therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual's needs, yet I always strive to build a deep connection and a trusting relationship. I believe there is value in understanding the root of your concerns while providing you with practical tools to actively rework negative thought patterns and behaviors. My experience includes guiding individuals through nuanced emotional journeys, strengthening interpersonal communication, facilitating meaningful behavior changes, challenging self-doubt, working through the “what-ifs,” and supporting clients in navigating life transitions. I am particularly passionate about working with Gen-Z and Millenials to help manage the unique challenges of early adulthood and foster their growth and resilience.

Your search for a therapist is an integral first step in addressing your worries and tuning into your needs and goals. I am honored to support you on your personal growth and fulfillment journey, and I look forward to walking alongside you as you take this step.

MY STORY

My journey to discovering my passion for mental health and wellness began as a child. During my childhood and early adolescence, I struggled to articulate myself in a way that felt authentic or accurately reflected my nuanced emotional experiences. Like many young individuals, I was a deep feeler. The struggle to express myself led to frequent frustration and even anger. I often felt stuck, overthinking and worrying about the future, which prevented me from being present and embracing my current experiences. I spent years battling the “what ifs” of life as I struggled to find the words to share what I was going through with my friends or family.

When I finally gave myself permission to acknowledge my internal discomfort, lean into my vulnerability, and seek professional support, truthfully, I was skeptical. The concept of therapy intimidated me. I recall thinking, “How am I supposed to willingly open up to a stranger? How will they truly understand me when I struggle to do just the same?” As my hesitancy slowly transformed into curiosity, I began allowing myself to embrace the process. With a strong relationship built with my therapist, I felt heard. Throughout this process, I was provided invaluable tools that enabled me to accurately understand and articulate my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I gained deeper insights into how my life events helped mold me into who I am. Not only did my therapist truly see me, but I finally saw myself.

As I was deciding on my career path, I was certain that mental health counseling was where I needed to be. My personal experiences in the counseling space and their immense impact on my life serve as driving forces for me to provide that same care and support to others. My educational and professional experiences have only reinforced that passion. Feeling skeptical of therapy is natural, yet allowing yourself to explore can be freeing. My goals are to meet my clients where they are, nurture the therapeutic relationship, and help guide clients toward living an authentic and fulfilling life.
