therapy for anxiety

WHAT IS Anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural response to stress, often characterized by feelings of worry, nervousness, or fear. While it's normal to feel anxious in certain situations, such as before a big presentation or during a major life change, anxiety becomes a concern when it’s persistent, overwhelming, and starts to interfere with daily life.

Common symptoms include:

Physical Symptoms

  • Rapid Heartbeat: A fast or irregular heartbeat, often described as palpitations.

  • Sweating: Excessive sweating, especially in stressful situations.

  • Trembling or Shaking: Involuntary shaking, often in the hands.

  • Shortness of Breath: Feeling like you can't catch your breath or are breathing faster than usual.

  • Fatigue: Constant tiredness, even without significant physical exertion.

  • Dizziness or Lightheadedness: Feeling unsteady or like you might faint.

  • Muscle Tension: Tight or sore muscles, especially in the neck, shoulders, or back.

  • Headaches: Frequent tension headaches or migraines.

  • Nausea or Upset Stomach: Gastrointestinal discomfort, including stomachaches or indigestion.

Emotional and Psychological Symptoms:

  • Excessive Worrying: Persistent thoughts of dread or fear, often about everyday situations.

  • Restlessness: Feeling on edge, unable to relax, or constantly fidgeting.

  • Irritability: Being easily annoyed or frustrated.

  • Difficulty Concentrating: Trouble focusing, remembering details, or making decisions.

  • Sleep Disturbances: Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or having restless sleep.

  • Avoidance: Steering clear of situations or places that cause anxiety.

  • Feelings of Panic or Doom: Sudden, intense feelings of fear or terror, sometimes without an obvious trigger.
